Week 47/2024: Photos of the week
Week of 18 November 2024
This wasn’t a super exciting week.
Here are some photos.

Historic Fisheries Research Centre in Battery Point
I must have walked past this a hundred times and never noticed it.
This shed is the only building remaining from Tasmania’s first fisheries research centre, established by William Saville-Kent, Tasmania’s first Superintendent and Inspector of Fisheries, in 1885.
The owners have recently restored it, and you can find out more here.

What is this box for?
In the Post Office
Does anyone else hear the lyrics “I was working part time in a five-and-dime . . .” when they see the Mr McGee books?
Okay, just me then.

What was the best thing about this week?
A few weeks ago I discovered a book called Shakespeare For Every Day of the Year by Allie Esiri. It’s a really cool book with, as you might imagine, a Shakespeare reading for every day of the year.
I finally got my own copy this week. Wednesday to be exact, and when I opened it to that day’s entry, it was the monologue I did in Year 12 drama.
It’s the ‘jailer’s daughter’ monologue from Two Noble Kinsmen, and if you’d asked me any time over the last 30 years what was the monologue I’d done in year 12, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you. But as soon as I saw this, I knew it!
That was kind of cool.
What did I notice this week?
A line of mattresses.
I also noticed that the broken phone handset that I saw last week has been replaced.
What did I learn this week?
If you are cold and wrap yourself in a blanket to stay warm, do not go outside and try to hang out washing like this. It will fall off you onto the ground and pick up a million little bits of dirt and vegetation you will never be able to pick off it.
What am I reading?
- The script of my play for my acting class
- Shakespeare For Every Day of the Year by Allie Esiri.
